Kids and Camping
Kids that camp with their family and friends, will have memories lasting for years to come, and often are memories of the best times of their young lives. I can remember when I was young and enjoyed camping with my parents and their friends, but then somehow they got out of camping with the got a little older and started having more kids. Odd that I now own and run camping related websites like CampingPA.com? Not really, but I kind of find it ironic though, memories and good times abound from my camping adventures over the years from camping with my parents when I was very young, joining my friend and his family when camping later in my elementary school days, to camping with my cousin, his wife, and our families locally every summer.
Even through a rain soaked week at Prince Gallitzin State Park in Patton, PA we were able to find fun and make the best of it… It was a never ending rain, lasted for days on end, and everything we had in ours tents were soaked. Somehow we ended up with two cases of cherries with pits in them
and someone started spitting their pits at an old coffee can on the ground. We quickly made a game of it ! All of us sitting on the picnic tables eating them and shooting the pits at the can, we ended up eating every one of those cherries, and the pits still covered the ground whee the can sat when we pulled up stakes. Should wonder back and see if there is a cherry grove there now.
But all of my camping memories from days of very young through today are good ones… Campers always have a way to make the best of some bad situations. Camping is a great way to introduce your kids to the outdoors, teach them respect for nature, and allow them to enjoy the great outdoors with family, friends and the campers next to you.
Campers really are one great big family, and it is great to see others out enjoying the outdoors when we are out. We welcome you all to become a member of ‘Your Online Camping Family’, join our forums, pull up your keyboard, and relax around our virtual campfire with us and all of our member ! As we travel around PA, watch for us in your campgrounds, check our schedule and come out and stay with us as well.
Our schedule is posted on the main site as well as in the forums, and we hold (2) members weekends every year, so keep posted for more detail on the and we hope you can make it out for them !
Till we see you around, we will enjoy talking to you here !
