Wondering if anyone on here would have any thoughts on if the transformer would go bad in a generator?

The other day we went out to double check over all the appliances and generator and ended up with the generator now only working when you hold the start button in.

What happened is we started up the generator to check the AC unit in the camper and when the unit was turned on we heard a pop and now the generator will not run with out holding the button in.

We did check all the obvious like the GFI plug and all the fuses just not the 12v section of the fuse box. We also did check to make sure the fuse in the generator was still good. We are at a lost of what else to try except for taking the generator completely out of the camper to look at it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There really isn't a "transformer" in the generator. It's more of an inverter. But i doubt that's the issue since it won't start.

What model is the generator?
Are you getting an error code? (usually a light that flashes in sequence)
Is there enough gas in the coach tank?(ours needs almost half a tank)
Check your 12 volt fuses.
Do you have an automatic transfer switch?
Check the oil in the generator
Where was the noise coming from?
Start with these, we'll go from there.

I can answer what I know for now

Yes there is enough gas it runs off the fuel tank for the rv and its full
Changed the oil before we pulled it out of the garage so that should be good yet
Did not see an error code
Yes there is an automatic transfer switch
It is an Oman 4000 watt generator that is installed in the motor home
I do still need to get out there and check all the 12v fuses yet
Plus I can say that not sure exactly where the noise came from but it acts the same way if you try to start it inside the rv or use the manual start on the gen

There should be a little blinking light on the inside start switch or the genny start switch. It blinks a trouble code to cross reference.
Yours is acting the same way ours did a few years ago. Ours was warranty work. Bad board in the genny. Same model as yours.
If there is a way to disable the ats(automatic transfer switch), give it a try.
Just so you know, we service, install, and repair generators at work. Not Rv gennys but they have the same principles.
