With all this hot weather upon us I began to think about the water we added to our campers holding tank.We mainly use it for dishes , but wonder if the hot temperatures affect it? Bacteria etc.If anyone knows please reply.

Not sure exactly how it would effect it. But one thing I do is add a cap full of a safe to drink neutralizer. Then I hope that there is now issues with it. Like you we really only use it for dishes and once and a while for showers (using the shower houses more than the camper)

Do you add water every trip or do you keep some in there for a while? I would think if you add every trip, as ling as they aren't real long trips, it should be fine. We were.in Kansas for a week a few years back with temps in the 100's. We were boon docking for a few days straight. We used the water for general use with no trouble. Didn't drink it though.

we empty and refill each trip, safer that way, bacteria can build up so fast in this heat you cant believe it

We do add it every trip and remove the leftover water before we pull out for home. You hear so much about illnesses from water.I was hoping to hear from someone with a little more knowledge about this.Than you.

One thing you need to consider is how clean/sanitized your holding tanks and water lines where to begin with... If you had an unsanitized water system before adding fresh water, you may have tainted the fresh water. Holding tanks should be sanitized before each camping season begins. This is also the time to inspect your entire water system, as well as complete any preventative maintenance to help prolong the life of your coach. You can add a small amount of bleach to your water system as well to help sanitize the water. However keep in mind that depending on the amount of bleach you add, the water might not be potable. Other options for your water system would be to add drinking water freshener or a fresh water cleaner/stabilizer. We have both of these products in stock at all times. And they are very popular to use after de-winterizing your system in the Spring. Remember we will ship any of our parts store items to you.
