We are planning our first camping trip The second week in October for 2 nights. Wondering about the weather since we will be in a tent. The averages say a high of 68 low 40. The campground I looked at was all booked already so I thought it must not be that cold if most of the campsites are booked. The more I think about it I wonder if a lot of people have campers?

Are we going to freeze in the middle of the night lol? Any tips for keeping warm in a tent?

I don't think we can answer that here.

Seriously though, Sleeping bags and blankets. Maybe some of those inexpensive hand and toe warmer packets.
There are also various types of heaters available.
October in Pa can be cold, but can also be quite comfortable. Prepare for the cold and hope you won't need any of it.

Really need to get my blogs back up to date

We camped Thanksgiving weekend last year at French Creek State Park and my brother-in-law stayed in a tent (he and my sister are planning to do the AT next year). He woke to frost on/in his tent 2 mornings! Make sure you have good sleeping bags and someone willing to leave the tent to make a roaring morning fire! (He waited for us to get the fire going in the morning) I would think getting off the ground would help too? Maybe an air mattress or cot? And keep a good attitude! For the extra few bucks, I think I would get an electric site and invest in a small space heater just to keep the chill off.

We camped in a Coleman Pop Up the last weekend of October many years ago in a State Park on the mainland across from Mackinac Island Michigan - I was never so cold in all my life! We woke to snow on the ground! The next night we found a hotel!

Good Luck and have fun!

By the way, campgrounds may be booked at that time due to fall events or fall foliage depending on the area. And I would not be surprised if there are more tents than you expect!

My son and his fiancée camp year round in a tent, even in the snow. Make sure your sleeping bags are suitable for low temperatures and your tent as well. Also if you have several people in the tent it will generally hold the body heat. October isn't that bad.
