Does anyone have a recommendation on a private campground near Ricketts Glen State Park? Thinking about making a trip out east this summer but don't want to stay in the park because we tend to carry on a bit. Thanks.
A plan is just a list of things that doesn't happen.

I will look for you, somewhere I saw a campground rating system that was pretty good, you can also check out trip advisor, they have campground reviews too. But I will try to find the site I am referring to....may take me a day or two, or if Mike sees this, he might know what I am talking about.

Hi,
We just stayed at Pioneer Campground for the first time 8/8-8/12/13. It is a small CG (99 sites). Only water and electric with the dump station in front of the office. The road leading to the CG is not signed well but keep following and you will see the sites and then follow the signs to the office. It is very clean and the owners are very attentive to your needs. We stayed in site 101 which was a great site. Other sites we wrote down were 23, 19, 16, 14, 12, 33, 55 and 69. FYI, sites 11-23 are on the main road in and out of the CG. Not a far walk to the office/restrooms/showers and pool. Rickets Glen was maybe 15 miles away. Cable reception was good but I did not use the Wi-Fi. We camped in a 30' travel trailer.
