Hello,
We are going to be passing through PA on our way from Michigan to Maine and are having difficulty locating a campground to stay at for 1 night, Sept. 4. Any suggestions on campgrounds that allow 1 night stays on a weekend?
Thank you!!!

some walmart stores will let you stay overnight in there parking lots.if you just need a place to park and sleep with no hookups type free camping in your search engine and see if you can find something along you route.

We've done the WalMart thing in that area too.

The other thing to try is calling the campground and asking if the 1 night minimum still applies if it's the week of your travel (if they haven't filled the spot for 2 nights - will they take 1)

Good luck

Cracker Barrel also allows RVs to stay overnight on their property and some even have electrical available on their light posts!

There's usually RV parking spots behind their building - for a touch more privacy... Enjoy your trip!!!!

PS - Depending on which way you're trip is taking you... I'm 99% sure there's a Cracker Barrel along 81 near Scranton... If you're passing Wilkes-Barre in your travels, there's definitely a Cracker Barrel off that new exit on 81 they put in near the Ice Arena... a mile or two from the Exit for Route 309. there's a Red Robin, loads of typical shops (Old Navy, Michael's, etc), but there's plenty of clearance for a camper to maneuver in there.

Keep in mind...Sept 4th is my birthday, I mean...it's also Labor Day Weekend. Some campgrounds may not have a 1 night site available. Try www.freecampgrounds.com.

Really need to get my blogs back up to date

We just stayed in that area last week. There is a campground in Dingmans Ferry, 10 miles south of Milford on 209 called Dingmans Campground. They just put in electric this year. Wonderful people! Beautiful campground! Right along the Delaware river. Here is their website: www.dingmanscampground.com

There are also a few state parks in that area. Right off 84 is Promised Land State Park (We stayed there for a few days before Dingmans) It is a beautiful park! You can make reservations on-line. Here is the website for pa state parks: www.dcnr.state.pa.us You can make reservations on-line.

We just did our first Walmart Overnight Camping & the kids loved it.

I'd have to say it was OK, but it is funny - no matter how far away from everything - cars still seem to be drawn to circle or drive right past you at all times of the night.

Waking up & looking out into a well lit parking lot can mess with you too, as I was sure we over slept & it must be 6 or 7 AM - but after confirming with cell phone & RV clock realizing it was actually 4 AM

We will do it again.
