Okay, I know the best defense is a good offense and we try to keep the roof cleaned regularly. Nevertheless, our 2003 travel trailer isn't as bright and shiny as I'd like. I bought some stuff from our local rv dealer, but it didn't really do much (Black Streak Remover by Camco). Any miracle products out there? Thanks!

I use "Awesome" from dollar general or check your local dollar store. I too have tried the chemical you mentioned and it did not work for me either. I dilute it by half and it still does a great job. I spray and wipe. It will take a while but it is worth it.

Reliable cleaner. Available at some campgrounds and rv stores. I keep a bootle in the camper, just because it works on lots more than black streaks.

If you have really bad streaks, and want to spend a little time, go to lowes or HD and get a container of Bar Keepers Friend and a Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Use this and very little elbow grease, then wash the camper just afterwards.

I second that......called The Reliable 1. Wet the csmper, spritz it all over, scrub with a brush, rinse. All gone!

Awesome well is AWESOME. We use to use this product alot. It does wonders on bugs and residue such as tree sap. Just do not use it in full sun or on a extremely hot trailer. Spray it on and let it soak. Then use standard RV wash/wax and a brush to wash the dirt and grime off, that was loosened up by the Awesome.

Well, in my haste to get that RV sparkling clean, went out and bought the spray bottle from Dollar General and went to clean top to bottom, right?...well, the cleaner that dripped below where I was wiping TOOK OFF THE PAINT! Now my "black streaks" are replaced with a different kind of streak...what dilution ratio do you use to actually get the streaks off without removing the paint? I obviously now know to dilute and wipe only a small area at a time...now I need a way to get the paint restored. aye yi yi!Hate learning by experience!

I have aluminum...when I use a 5 to 1 ratio and keep a hose handy at all times to rinse the section I do...it is doing better. Just that one area now on my camper will be a reminder that this is a very powerful cleaner!! Unfortunately, I'm one of those "if a little is good a lot will be better" even though my common sense tells me otherwise banghead thanks for your concern and for the pics of LIW resort..it does look like a nice place

Just finished giving our camper its first big bath of the season. We have quite a few black streaks so I am going to get that reliable stuff and see what that will do but I am in no hurry....they aren't going anywhere for sure. They aren't actually too bad considering. Shouldn't take too much of the right cleaner to take care of it...thanks for the tips.

I've had good luck with Turtle Wax Bug and Tar remover. I don't know if it's the best thing to use, but it was the only thing I had in the garage that actually worked on the black streaks. Plus you should be able to get it just about anywhere.

The black streak remover that Lerch sells does a really good job, just make sure the bottom is wet so it run down easier. Randy from Open Range told me that the black streaks are from the limestone that is used in the rubber roofing. I would think something like lime away might work too.

Reliable cleaner is still my favorite. And I noticed more campground stores are selling it now.
